Now I start with a pattern as a jumping-off point and adapt from there. A different colour combination, a modified shape, an extra element that wasn't in the original. Each piece is its own small experiment.
The base is almost always thrifted. A trucker hat from a vintage market, a pair of hoop earrings from a second-hand shop, shoes someone left behind. There's something satisfying about taking an object that already has a history and giving it a new one.
The colours are always bright. Always bold. I'm not interested in beige.
The hats, hoops, shoes and hardware all start second-hand or vintage. Upcycling isn't a marketing angle, it's just how this works. Better for the planet, and every base is already a little interesting before the crochet begins.
Nothing is mass produced. Every piece is made individually by hand. That's why no two are exactly the same, and why each one takes as long as it takes.
Colour is a decision, not an afterthought. Every combination is chosen to be bold, joyful and wearable, in that order.

Crochet is where I experiment without a brief or a deadline. Where the only stakeholder is me and the only metric is whether I love it.
It turns out those two worlds aren't as different as they look. Both are about learning a framework, understanding it deeply, and then adapting it to fit something real.
