Lens Studio

The moment
as it actually felt.

Natural light. Real expressions. No stiff poses or forced smiles. I shoot outdoors with a Nikon and a lot of patience, catching the candid moments alongside the ones we planned for.

Photography for people who want to remember something true.

How I Shoot

Directed enough
to feel easy.
Candid enough
to feel real.

Most people feel awkward in front of a camera. That's normal. My job is to make you forget it's there.

I start every session with a few minutes of gentle direction, getting everyone comfortable and loosened up. Then I step back, let things unfold, and stay ready. The best shots almost always happen between the posed ones.

I shoot outdoors wherever possible. Metro Vancouver has no shortage of beautiful light, interesting backdrops, and the kind of natural settings that make people look like themselves.

Natural light always

Golden hour, open shade, overcast skies. No flash, no studio strobes, nothing artificial.

Real moments first

I'm watching for the laugh, the look, the in-between. The posed shots are for the grandparents. The candids are for you.

Edited with care

Every delivered photo is edited individually. Colour, contrast, texture and light, brought out to their best. No heavy retouching, no filters, no making you look like someone else. You'll still look like you.

All sessions are Metro Vancouver and surrounding areas. Travel outside the region considered on request.

How I Edit

Real. Colourful.
You, but better lit.

I edit every photo individually. No batch filters, no presets applied blindly, no assembly line.

What I do: colour, contrast, texture and light. I'll make your eyes pop, soften the shadows, bring out the warmth in a scene. The edit should feel like the best version of the moment, not a filtered version of you.

What I don't do: heavy retouching. The flyaway hairs stay. The laugh lines around your eyes stay. I'll soften them if they're catching harsh light, and I'll always make sure you look your best. But you'll still look like you. That's the point.

Realistic. Vivid. Honest.

Why I Shoot

Art is a privilege.
I love to share it.

I didn't start shooting to build a business. I started because I couldn't stop noticing things worth remembering.

The way light hits a face at 6pm. A kid completely absorbed in something small. Two people laughing at the same moment without realising anyone was watching.

Photography is how I practise paying attention. And sharing those images, giving someone a moment they get to keep forever, is one of the best things I know how to do.

This is joy work. It will always feel that way.
