Creativity:

Admittedly…. last week I felt a bit lazy. Perhaps it’s the weather, perhaps it was the mini vacation we had, perhaps it’s because it was the start of my kids’ summer vacation. Whatever it is………. I was a bit slower than usual. I did still manage to get a self-portrait in. This month’s prompt is props so I’m using different mirrors in my images. I did some research for inspiration. And by research I mean surfing Instagram and Google for other artist’s images. I think it accurately demonstrates how my brain was feeling last week.
Corporate:
We got together and discussed our new Product framework. A great way to start these conversations is to begin with the WRONG version. Not wrong to the extent that it’s totally orthogonal to the topic but wrong where people will have strong enough opinions to correct and give their feedback.
The framing should be around:
- Vision / Objectives
- How will we proceed?
- Working agreements
- Risks
- Design principles and constraints
This will help the conversations move forward appropriately and can be used for change management in the future as these are all common topics for moving an organization forward through transformation.
Learning:
I began reading Simon Sinek’s “Leaders Eat Last” for a conversation at work. So far I’ve enjoyed how Simon uses real life examples of exemplary leadership from the military. These stories tend to be fairly extreme, as you can imagine, however because of this they are easier to understand and empathize with. The focus so far is about empathy and leaders. As an empathetic person, I’m enjoying this perspective. I’m going to keep reading.
